Transport Totes

This...

Not That...

Living in NYC, a lot of time is spent picking up necessities around the city.
For the past 5 years, I have been loyal to my rotation of totes (seen above). They can be purchased
at places like CVS, The Met Store, J Crew, and Whole Foods.
I love them! They fit quietly inside any interior bag pocket.  They are washable and get rotated after one or two uses to insure good health.

Why is this important?

Look at the lonely red bag above.  I see a lot of these being transported around my neighborhood.
Sadly, by people over and over again.  I believe in the 80/20 rule.
No where near perfect, I occasionally forget to pack a bag and succumb to a plastic bag. I try and do better the next time!

Plastic bags like these are impacting our environment greatly...
  • They are manufactured using toxic chemicals and large amounts of fossil fuels.
  • They don't disappear! Unless made out of a biodegradable plastic. A bag can last for 100 years. Polluting our oceans, trees, and burdening our landfills.
  • Common plastics like these are highly toxic to our environment and health. BPA has been proven to be an endocrine disruptor in young children.  If these bags are incinerated those chemicals are sent out into the air we are breathing. We breath 11,000 liters of air a day!
So...the next time you step out for your day, remember your tote!

Be Well,
Kim
