Speak with your dollars.

The current invasion of Ukraine by Russia has put a spotlight on American companies doing business with Russia. It is estimated about 300 international companies have ceased business operations.

A few are Apple, IBM, Amazon, BMW, GM, Honda, 3M, Disney, Coca Cola.

Companies who remain in business due to management, partnership agreements, Franchise's are; Unilever, Subway, Burger King, and PepsiCo. It is also to be noted there are many who can not turn a switch off from all business dealing due to the size of their investment as noted by Citigroup. They continue to maintain aspects of their business but have expressed plans to divest from the retail banking sector and plans to in the future leave Russia for good as Goldman and Sachs, and JP Morgan have done since the war started.

There seems to be a fine line with some as producers of agricultural products like Cargill continue to manufacture along with all the major Pharma companies Johnson and Johnson, Abbott, Novartis, and Pfizer. The reason being given is their products are deemed essential to the country.

Most US corporations doing business have ceased doing business in the country which highlights our overreaching power to act on our convictions through our business practices.

It is important to note a component of Corporate Social Responsibility is just this. Speaking your values through your decision making - Who are you buying from?  How are you supporting them? How does this have an impact? Am I supporting other entities  (supply chain) who are corrupt?

Each and everyone of us can influence a business by speaking with our dollars. The pullback from Russia is a great time to recognize who we support says a lot about who we are.

Be Well in 2022,

KIM
